As stated on their website:
Audacity is an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux and other operating systems.
Developed by a group of volunteers as open source.
I watched the video announcement by Martin Keary of Muse Group, in the hope that another brilliant tool would improve while staying open source and free for its users. He said:
Audacity has recently reached the 3.0 iteration. Despite not being prominently featured in the professional audio community, I’m sure many producers would enjoy its powerful features as I do.
Audacity is a perfectly apt tool that doesn’t break the bank, allowing anyone, whether beginner or professional, to edit audio. And, same as REAPER, Audacity enjoys a brilliant community of like-minded people, always keen to help everybody and improve the already vast arsenal of functionality.
I hope Muse will keep improving on the existing platform, and maybe finally apply that “fresh lick of paint” he mentions in the video.
